In my journey of serving the Lord, my hope to see in the ministry is that people who life is changed and live a new life after meeting with the Lord, Jesus. I have seen hundreds of those people and always picture in my head about their background, how their life changed and amazing fruit in their life; every time i meet them again.
In the mission training that Jesus taught to His Disciples for 3 years, there are strategy that Jesus’s teaching to change the life of the nations. Basically, May i describe a few of them in this page.
Jesus washes twelves disciples, not eleven: Who are the tools that Jesus uses to change the world. John 13:1 tell us that Jesus loved all of His disciples “to the end”. But who are the disciples?
1) Peter denied Jesus, 2) Judas sold Jesus, 3) all other disciples fled and frightened,
4) What about you?
Have you ever denied Jesus, Sold Jesus, or flee and so frighten to answer His call? The disciples didn’t deserved Jesus love, neither you and I. But Jesus love us until the end. Jesus use those who were not perfect, sinful people to changed the world. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. You don’t need to be perfect because God is perfect and He want to use you as a tools for changing many life. You can’t love your enemy, your neighbor? But God love them just like He loves you! Ask God “Lord, Love this man through me.” because Love is the best weapon to change life, that is what God used, and using and will use.
Jesus come to the world to serve not to be served and he teaches us to serve, think of others by example of washing His disciples’s feet. When he teaches, he used towel, basin and water which we can see but the main important thing that we can’t see and move those materials was Jesus’s humble or servant heart.
Most people ready to fight for the throne, but difficult to pick up the towel. When i was in the middle of celebration for my Doctor of Ministry, friends and family brought so many wonderful gifts to me. My sister also killed a pig for feast (this is showing joyfulness in traditionally). My father stood up and gave me a gift which was wrapped and he asked me to open it in front of many people who came to the celebration.
I opened it with expecting of Golden ring in it, or some valuable jewels. But it was a small towel, I at first felt “worst gifts” and he said, “I paid this towel 25 Kyats (which is less than 1 cent) from the street, i gave it to you because you completed the training, and now you are to serve. You will use to wipe the tears, and sweat of others.” Later, the gifts that my father gave me on the graduation day is my favorite, stamped in my heart.
One day, I got a phone call from a member of the church that i pastored in Yangon. Asking me to visit their neighbor, the husband left, she is only 25, a year old daughter and she has been struggle with HIV/AIDS. I knocked the door, no one answered but I heard baby crying very weak. So i push the door and it open with the terrible smile flown to my face. The baby was there in the corner lying, hungry and crying weakly.
Mommy was on the bed, with vomit, full wound infected on her body because of the diseases. She was speaking, but i could not hear well. She was so weak, just waiting to die on her own bed. She knows me, and asked me, “Saya (pastor), please help,… pray for me.” I said, I will, but waits.
I cleaned up the vomit on the floors and on the beds, I put all the trash, bloody clothes, and wasted foods to the plastic bag. I wiped her body, wound with water and towel. Fed mom and the baby, shared the love of God, the story of Jesus. At the same day, she become a believer!
Love is the character of our God and the new commandment of Christ, and serving is the outcome of LOVE. Those are the tools for changing the life of many. The outcome of love is mission, and for accomplishment of mission, we must use the tools.
